Research

The examples below illustrate my previous research projects and interests ranging from STEM curriculum to ecosystem health.

Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies

June 2016 - December 2017

After a summer Research Experience for Undergraduates program at Cary, mentored by Ecological Society of America President Dr. Kathleen Weathers - I continued my work monitoring lakes as a passion project during my senior year and in my first year out of college. I lead-authored an Ecological Applications paper on remote sensing as a tool to study lake health and changes that has been cited over 50 times (summary article / publication).

Biology Department - Hamilton College

2014 - 2017

As part of Dr. Michael McCormick's lab and thesis group I participated in several summers of microbiology research on Green Lake in NY. Our group used an ROV and novel high-resolution sampling device to collect and analyze biofilm and water samples (article). I wrote a thesis for the biology department characterizing and modeling the chemical fluxes across the boundary of this unique meromictic lake.
